To make sure your arrival in North East England goes smoothly we have put together the following information for when travelling to the UK.
We recommend you check with the relevant UK government site for the latest updates on customs and visa regulations.

Visas
Citizens of Australia and New Zealand do not require a visa to holiday in the UK with a valid national passport.
However, you will be required to complete forms on arrival to apply for entry clearance and may not stay for longer than six months. If you wish to extend your stay, study or work in the UK relevant visas are required and applications must be made in advance of travel. Visit britaus.net for details.
We recommend you visit the UK Visa website or check with your local British Embassy or diplomatic representative, before you travel. Please note that visa regulations are frequently revised.
Customs
Customs controls at UK points of entry distinguish between goods bought within the EU, with local duty paid in the country of purchase, and duty free goods bought elsewhere. You can bring the following into the UK, from outside the EU, for your own use without paying UK tax or duty:
If you have any more than these allowances you must declare the goods. If you do not you are breaking the law and may be prosecuted.
In addition, to protect health and the environment some goods are prohibited or restricted without a licence from being brought into the UK. For more information click here or contact our National Advice Service
